La Buchetta Food &

This is our favorite in Florence.  We were unaware that reservations were required for this, but we walked in at the right time!  They seated at a table right by the door.  It never interfered with our experience.  The food, the wait staff, the wine, the ambience were perfect.  It was a perfect evening.  We have been back several times and will revisit every time we are in Florence.  The highlights of the meal were aged beef medallions, and the fresh pasta tossed in a cheese wheel topped with truffles.  Their menu is a bit pricy, but worth every penny.  This place is a must if you are in Florence.

We found this quaint little place near the main square in L'Aquila one day as we ventured out.  We had just purchased our home, and L'Aquila is the nearest town to our village.  We shop for groceries here when the open markets are few in the winter months.  Get menu, great food and the staff was sweet.

As you can see from the look on my face, it was love at first bite!  I consider myself a pizza connoisseur, but this right here... is the best I have ever had! Eaten with fork and knife by all, we were able to get a table after a bit of a wait. A must if you are in Naples.

While on a drive through Sicilia, we decided to explore Sciacca.  My son ancestors are from this beautiful beach town and it did not disappoint.  It was quiet in mid October and we were able to get a table at this fabulous restaurant.  Squid Ink pasta was the dish of choice and it was incredible. We will definitely revisit this wonderful town.

All of our travels take us to some wonderful places with food and scenery. Let's talk about shops!  This one is tucked in down a busy street in Venice. It's located very close to St. Marks Square. A bit pricey, but the aromatics coming from this place are divine.  The shop owner even offered to whip up a signature scent for us. This was a lovely place.

II Toro, (The Bull) I Granata (The Maroons)

Stadio Olimpico, Torino, Italy

What a night!  There was chanting, the stadium was humming and vibrating, there was smoke and fire!

I have never been to a European football game, so we sat in the "family section" in the stands.  Our friend Giorgio and Will wanted to make sure I wasn't overwhelmed! Ha! Once I saw the "Ultras", I knew I was in the wrong section!  The Ultras are an organized group of fans known for their passion and intense support.  They chant (the whole game), they have banners, smoke bombs and they have amazing spirit.  I have never seen anything like it and I wanted to be right in the middle.

As you can see from the photos, we had great seats, which were only 15. euro each.

Great game, with great company, I suggest catching a game if you are in Italia!

Ultras - from the Latin word ultra, - beyond, reflecting their perceived level of enthusiasm for their team.

Maurizio is lifelong friends with the couple we purchased our home from. We went out to dinner with them and Maurizio hosted us at his Trattoria & Pizzeria, where he is the executive chef and owner.

We feasted on mouthwatering made from scratch dishes, sampled vino and had a pleasant visit with dear friends.  Dinner lasted almost 6 hours.  This is life in Italy, no rush.  Wait staff is not rushing you out the door for their next buck.

If you get a chance to visit, this man and his crew will not disappoint.
